With the rise of giants like Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, many businesses have started to see the marketing value on these platforms. For small businesses, social media marketing involves using social platforms to create awareness about the business?s products and services, while engaging with potential customers, clients, prospects, employees, and partners. Small businesses can share content, generate leads, attract new customers, provide customer support and build their brands through social media. As a social media marketing agency, Hats-Off highly recommends using social media platforms for small businesses. There is a world of opportunities in the realm of hashtags, comments, and likes for small businesses. In this blog, we are going to share some of the advantages of using social media platforms for advertising. Increases Brand Awareness Due to its huge user database, social media is a highly effective and low-cost means to increase brand awareness and generate new customers. It holds an advantage over traditional media platforms like TV, radio, magazines, and so on. With social media, you can spread information about your business in a quick and cost-efficient manner and potentially reach millions of people. Brand awareness not just influences the buying patterns and behaviors of the customers but also increases brand loyalty. Increases Website Traffic Social Media can assist in sending customers directly to your website. You can also share content from your blog or website to your social platforms to reach readers. More website traffic means you do not have to rely solely on SEO and Google Search. Additionally, it has been noticed that the higher the number of media shares you receive, the higher you rank in search engines. Generates Leads at Minimal costs The cost per lead generation from social media amounts to a fraction of the cost per lead through traditional means like newspapers, radio, or TV commercials. Almost all social networking platforms allow you to sign up and create a profile for free and even when you do decide to invest in paid promotions for platforms like Instagram or Facebook, they are relatively inexpensive when compared to other marketing strategies. Brings About an Increase in Sales With more visibility that comes with being on the social media platform, your business will get more opportunities to convert potential clients into actual customers. So, as more and more people engage with your brand and follow it, the opportunities for sales will increase as well. The increased number of likes and shares will lead to increased sales. Has Higher Conversion Rates Social media will give more conversion opportunities to your business due to higher visibility. Every blog post, photograph, or video has the potential to drive traffic to your company?s website. By humanizing your brand through content sharing, commenting, and updating statuses, social media allows your brand to make a good impression. When a brand is engaged online, consumers who follow your account will be more likely to believe your company?s authenticity. Establishes you as a Thought Leader No matter what industry your business is based in, social media gives the opportunity to establish your brand as a thought leader or go-to source for information on the topics related to your niche. Social media if done correctly allows you to reach thousands of people. It will not just allow you to post great content, but also allows you to connect and engage with your followers. This will make them more likely to come back to you if they have any queries and doubts about your industry. Provides Better Audience Insight Social media makes it very easy for your company to know its audience and reach out to them. Through various tools, you can easily learn the age, gender, interests, etc. of your audience. Audience research is similar to social listening, it involves gathering information from a group of people. This way you can understand what is important to your target audience and identify the trends that they are following. So, there you have it, some great benefits of social media marketing. For reaping the full benefits of social media marketing, you need to have an effective social media marketing strategy that revolves around providing high-quality content in a consistent way. Elon Musk To Pull Out Of $44 Billion Twitter Deal

If you remember, in April 2022, Elon Musk offered to buy Twitter which caused a lot of noise in the social media world. However, now the billionaire wants to end his $44 billion deal to buy the social media platform as per a letter sent by his lawyer to the company?s chief legal officer on Friday, July 8. The announcement was the latest twist in the long-running saga after the billionaire decided to buy Twitter in April. In the letter attached to the SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission) filings, Musk?s lawyers said that ?Twitter has not complied with its contractual obligations.? He claims that Twitter violated the agreement by failing to respond to requests for information regarding fake or spam accounts on the platforms, which is fundamental to its business performance. Musk?s lawyers claimed that Twitter made ?false and misleading? statements during negotiations regarding its monetizable daily active users (mDAUs) are either false or materially misleading. Spam accounts are designed to spread information to large numbers of people and manipulate how users interact with the platform. According to Twitter, no more than 5% of the accounts are automated or fake, but Musk believes that spam or bot accounts could account for 20% or more of Twitter users. As per the business typhoon, he has been trying to get information about how many daily active users Twitter has but has been repeatedly refused information about the number of bot accounts on Twitter. This is why he wishes to terminate the deal. Of course, Twitter was not going to stay silent about this. The company sued Elon Musk on Tuesday for violating his $44 billion deal to buy the social media platform and asked the Delaware court to order Musk to complete the merger at the agreed $54.20 per Twitter share. If the Twitter board moves forward with legal action, Musk will be liable to prove that Twitter breached the agreement. Supposedly, if Musk successfully terminates the agreement, it could mean further problems for Twitter?s share price, the company?s brand, employee turnover rates, and the social media advertising business could be affected further. According to various social media marketing agencies, the billionaire's bid for the company has left a lasting impact on Twitter?s ad sales department. There are fears about a downturn in the economy due to the unsure conditions, and many social media marketing services have had to rethink how they will be advertising from now on. Some advertisers who were skeptical about Musk buying out Twitter say that the platform can thrive without Musk, as there will be more emphasis on brand safety. However, we can never tell. What do you think about the whole Twitter-Elon saga? Did Twitter lie about the number of bots it has? Or did Musk bite more than he could chew? Let us know in the comments below.

Say Hello To Deeper Connections Thanks To The Instagram Subscriber Feature

2022 has been a busy year for Instagram developers. The app has been evolving by leaps and bounds with new updates rolling out every month. The latest update of the platform is Instagram subscriptions. Much like Facebook Subscriptions, this update will help creators connect and build scalable and sustainable businesses powered by the support of their communities. With the latest Instagram Subscription features, creators can develop connections with engaged followers while growing their monthly income by giving their subscribers access to exclusive content and benefits. Creators can charge anywhere from $0.99 to $99.99 per month to give their subscribers access to exclusive stories, lives and badges. A subscribe button will also be visible with the follow and message button on the profile of creators who offer subscriptions like so: (profile img) The following benefits will be given to subscribers: Subscriber Live: Creators can broadcast exclusive lives visible to their subscribers, and this will allow them to engage on a deeper level. Subscriber Chats: Connect with up to 30 subscribers simultaneously with subscriber chats. Creators can make chat groups with their subscribers and discuss what they are passionate about, share tips and life hacks, or just create a space to bring their subscribers together. These chats are powered by Messenger and can be made directly from your inbox, ending automatically after 24 hours. Subscriber Stories: Just like subscribers live, creators can now create stories only for their subscribers, letting them share exclusive content and use interactive story stickers. ?(Subscribers only img) Subscriber Badge: Subscribers will get a badge next to the profile picture, making them more identifiable by the creator. (subs badge img) This badge will also be visible on the comments and messages of the subscribers, helping creators identify their subscribers. Subscriber Reels and Posts: These are exclusive reels and posts visible only to a creator?s subscribers. While stories and lives will allow creators to connect with their subscribers in the moment, content that lives on your profile will have more impact. Subscriber-only reels and posts will allow the subscribers to comment and come back to the content created for them any time they want. With the new subscribers' feature, Instagram has developed into the latest OnlyFans as per many users. While it might be a great feature for creators, will people actually pay to view exclusive subscriber content? How will this change the way creators interact with their followers? Will value-driven content be visible only to subscribers now? What about normal followers; will there be any valuable content visible to them? One thing is for sure, the monetization of content will greatly change how IG is used in the future. How it will impact content creation and distribution, only time will tell.

Is WhatsApp Social Media? Let’s Chat About It!

Are Apps like WhatsApp among those that have snaked their way towards making life brighter and easier by the day? The medium they use to connect a person with his family, friends, colleagues, and personal life looks as simple as just tapping a link, button, or icon. However, the first question lurks: Is WhatsApp even a social media site after all that? More often than not, it is just heralded as a messaging app, except it uniquely has different wings, too. Let's unearth the enigma! Defining Social Media: What’s the Criteria? Before labeling WhatsApp as social media, let’s define what makes a platform fall under this category. Social media typically involves: Connecting Users: Platforms like Facebook and Instagram bring people together through profiles, posts, and interactions. Content Sharing: Users can share media like photos, videos, and links. Public Engagement: Comments, likes, and public posts create interactive communities. With these in mind, where does WhatsApp fit? Why WhatsApp Could Be Social Media Here’s how WhatsApp ticks some social media boxes: Communication and CommunityWhatsApp allows instant communication through one-on-one chats and group messages. Its group chat feature fosters community interaction, whether it’s family, friends, or professional networks. Media SharingFrom images and videos to documents and voice notes, WhatsApp enables users to share content effortlessly. Broadcast and Status FeaturesWhatsApp Status, where users post photos, videos, or text updates visible for 24 hours, closely resembles Instagram Stories. Broadcast lists also let users share messages with multiple people, akin to social media outreach. Why WhatsApp Isn’t Exactly Social Media While WhatsApp shares some features with social media, it has its differences: Privacy FocusWhatsApp prioritizes private communication over public interaction. Messages are end-to-end encrypted, ensuring only the sender and recipient can access them. Lack of Public ProfilesWhatsApp doesn’t have public profiles or a searchable database of users unlike other social media platforms such as Instagram or FaceBook. No Open NetworkingWhatsApp requires a phone number to connect, making it more exclusive and less about building broad networks. The Verdict: A Hybrid App WhatsApp can be seen as a hybrid - blending messaging with social media elements. It’s not your typical social media platform but bridges the gap between personal communication and content sharing. Leveraging WhatsApp for Growth Considering WhatsApp to be one kind of social media or not is secondary but one can not deny that it is a powerful tool for personal and professional use. Here’s how to make the most of it: Optimize Your WhatsApp Business Account Use a professional profile picture and description. Set up automated replies to engage customers efficiently. Use Broadcast Lists for OutreachSend updates, promotions, or announcements to multiple people without forming a group. Engage Through WhatsApp StatusShare product launches, behind-the-scenes moments, or tips to keep your audience engaged. Incorporate WhatsApp LinksAdd a “Click to Chat” link on your website, emails, or social media profiles to encourage direct communication. WhatsApp SEO: Yes, It Exists! Did you know optimizing WhatsApp can improve your online presence? Here’s how: Keyword-Rich Business Profiles: Include relevant keywords in your WhatsApp Business bio. Why Would You Need a Social Media Content Calendar? In the initial times, social media was merely posting, liking, and commenting. However, since the word 'Marketing' was adjoined with it, the dynamics have taken a 360-degree shift. Today's social media marketing definitely goes beyond the boundaries of sheer posting. More crucial things like content themes, timelines, strong online presence, and the coordination of social with digital and traditional have slided into the picture. With all these gaining simultaneous gravity, a social media content planning calendar is essential. You ask why? Here's how it can save you: Cuts the blunder Better time and content management Unification across multiple social media platforms Enhances and evaluate your long-term strategy ?How to create an effective social media calendar in 2024? There comes the real deal you've been waiting to crack! We are listing four steps that can help you create a free yet effective social media calendar for the upcoming year: STEP 1: Bifurcation: Start with opening a spreadsheet. Add the following columns: Date Client Name Content theme Campaign or project name Ad copy Links to visuals KPI's Status Platform If your requirements go beyond, add those sections, too! But, for average daily purposes, the above columns suffice. STEP 2: Create Dropdowns:   Your social media posting scheduler becomes instantly manageable when you add dropdowns for the same. This particular step won't be applied to all your bifurcated categories but will surely help you manage the implied ones. For example, you can add dropdowns to the platform or status column. Here, you can include options like 'approval pending', 'sent' or 'Instagram', 'Facebook' etc. According to your needs, add dropdowns for enhanced functioning. STEP 3: Colour theory: Don't worry, here we won't tell you to refer to the colour wheel! Instead, the approach here is to create a colour theory of your own understanding. Generate a color-coded legend with corresponding labels for your content categories. Apply the colours indicated in the legend to a new column or modify the colour of each row accordingly. STEP 4: Content Play: Start inputting content into your social media calendar template to assess its compatibility with your team's workflow. Keep refining the template to align more closely with your specific requirements. How do you plan a social media content calendar in 2024? The next billion-dollar question is, how would you plan your social media calendar? Well, there is no secret formula that would tell you 'This day' you 'post this'.? It all depends on your product or service and the rational approach you have towards it. Remember, the main motto is to keep your objective in mind. If you are catering awareness, you could simply run campaigns that meet your end goals. Additionally, don't skip out on important dates for 2024. Right from some fancy day to national holidays, make sure you engage your audience with the best!

Mastering B2B In Social Media: Strategies And Best Practices

Overview: In the digital age, social media has evolved into a powerful tool for businesses, transcending its original purpose of connecting friends and family. In the realm of Business-to-Business (B2B) marketing, social media has become indispensable. But what exactly is B2B social media, and how can businesses leverage it to their advantage? Join us on a journey to uncover the strategies, importance, and best practices of B2B social media marketing. What is B2B social media? At its core, B2B social media refers to the use of social networking platforms to connect, engage, and build relationships with other businesses. In this context, it's less about cat memes and vacation photos and more about establishing a strong professional presence. It's about showcasing your expertise, networking with industry peers, and generating leads to fuel your business growth. B2B Social Media Strategies When diving into B2B social media, it's vital to have a clear strategy. Without one, your efforts may feel like a ship adrift in the digital sea. Here are some strategies to set you on the right course: Define Your Objectives Start by identifying your goals. Are you looking to increase brand awareness, generate leads, or establish thought leadership within your industry? Knowing your objectives will guide your entire social media strategy. Know Your Audience Understanding your target audience is key. Who are your ideal clients, and where do they spend their time online? Tailor your content to resonate with them and speak their language. Choose the Right Platforms Not all social media platforms are created equal, especially in the B2B world. LinkedIn, for example, is a goldmine for professionals, while Twitter is excellent for real-time updates and industry news. Make sure you're where your audience is. Content is King Consistently create high-quality, valuable content. This can include blog posts, whitepapers, infographics, videos, and more. Share your expertise to build trust and credibility. Engage Authentically Genuine engagement is crucial in B2B social media. Respond to comments, share relevant content, and foster conversations within your industry. Building relationships often starts with a simple "like" or comment. Analyze and Adjust Use analytics to track your progress. What's working, and what isn't? Adapt your strategy accordingly, ensuring your efforts align with your goals.   What Is B2B Social Media Marketing? B2B social media marketing involves using various social media platforms to promote products, services, and, most importantly, build meaningful business relationships. It's not just about blasting sales pitches; it's about nurturing connections that can lead to fruitful partnerships. B2B social media marketing bridges the gap between businesses in a more human and interactive way. The Importance of social media in B2B Marketing Social media has become an essential component of B2B marketing for several reasons: Increased Visibility Having a strong social media presence can significantly boost your brand's visibility. It's a platform where you can showcase your expertise, share industry news, and engage with potential clients. Lead Generation B2B marketers report that social media is one of the most effective channels for generating leads. By sharing valuable content and engaging with your audience, you can attract potential clients who are genuinely interested in what you offer. Thought Leadership Becoming a thought leader in your industry is a surefire way to gain trust and authority. Social media allows you to share your knowledge, insights, and opinions, positioning your business as an industry expert. Building Relationships In business-to-business social media marketing, relationships are everything. Social media provides a platform to connect with potential partners, collaborators, and clients. It's a space to humanize your brand and interact on a personal level.   B2B Social Media Best Practices Now that you understand the importance of B2B social media, let's dive into some best practices: Consistency is Key: Consistency builds trust. Ensure your profiles are up-to-date, and your content is posted regularly. An inactive profile can send the wrong message. Quality Over Quantity: Don't aim to be everywhere; aim to be where it matters. Focus on the platforms that resonate with your audience and create high-quality content that genuinely adds value. Listen and Respond: Effective social media isn't just about broadcasting; it's about listening and responding. Engage with comments, answer questions, and take the time to understand your audience's needs and concerns. Use Visuals: Visual content is more engaging and shareable. Incorporate images, infographics, and videos into your content strategy to capture your audience's attention. Network and Collaborate: B2B is all about building connections. Network with industry professionals, collaborate on projects, and explore mutually beneficial partnerships. Measure Your Success: Use analytics to track your social media efforts. This data will help you understand what's working and what needs improvement, allowing you to refine your strategy.   Conclusion: B2B social media is not a one-size-fits-all endeavor. It's a dynamic and ever-evolving landscape where genuine connections, valuable content, and strategic planning can yield remarkable results. By understanding the importance of social media in B2B marketing and implementing the best practices and strategies, your business can harness the full potential of this powerful tool. So, remember, in the world of B2B social media, it's not just about connecting; it's about building relationships that can take your business to new heights. Dive in, stay engaged, and watch your B2B connections flourish on the social media stage!

Make branding a Treasure Trove of Short Stories

Folklore, novels, short stories, stage plays, street performances, movies, and television series- prove that humans love listening to and talking about stories more than anything else since eons. The human brain is wired to respond to a well-crafted narrative. It is the best way to capture people's attention, impart knowledge, and forge close bonds. Think of all the religious and spiritual books in history- with captivating miraculous stories, they grab the listeners'/readers attention and convince them to perform certain actions. In the digital world, storytelling is often used for marketing purposes. Human-to-human connections are the heart of every business strategy. Whatever content strategy you follow- even with the best search engine optimization strategies- at the end of the day, all that matters is how well your audience connects with your content. Your audience is programmed to seek out great stories- and that will never change. Read this story: "Once upon a time, a little girl called Goldilocks goes for a walk in the forest. She comes by a house. She knocks on the door of the house, and when no one answers, she peeps through the window. At the table in the kitchen, she sees three bowls of porridge at the table. Goldilocks is quite hungry but cannot enter someone's house without permission, so she waits at the door. After some time, three bears come by. They own the house and invite her in to eat with them. Goldilocks eats porridge with them, and they play a game of Uno. The big bear wins by pulling a special card at the last moment?what a twist! The End." So? what do you think? Did the story seem interesting to you? Or does it feel off? For some reason, it feels off, doesn't it? That's because there is no conflict in it. There is nothing at stake, and there is no tension. Goldilocks did not break and enter the house. She did not eat the porridge without permission; she did not sit in the bears' chairs nor sleep in their beds. The bears did not find their house messed nor did they find a random girl sleeping in their home. At their core, stories are all about overcoming conflicts. They are about the thrill, the drama, and the journey that people can relate to and that they find interesting. And if your story has no drama or emotional journey- no one will be interested in hearing it. Unfortunately, in the business world, brands tend to hide any adversities or conflicts they have faced. They spin a rosy, blemish-free story about how their company experiences continuous growth, how they have the best clients, and everything is perfect. They feel that any adversities or conflicts in the company will expose their imperfection and deter customers from buying their services. However, this is a misconception. Nothing is perfect. Growth is never streamlined. Everything, including companies, has flaws. Plus, people do not relate to perfection. They want adversities, life struggles, and shortcomings. The more honest you are, the more people will appreciate it. Since most content strategies have been focusing on optimizing content for algorithms, people often get lost when asked to create for real humans. It can be a challenging task o flex a creative muscle that has slowly withered away from inactivity. So, to help you get that creative kick, we have shared some tips for sharing your brand story on platforms like Instagram and Twitter. Provide the Audience with a Unique and Engaging Visual Experience Social media platforms are some of the best modes to grab your audiences' attention. A picture tells a thousand stories, and the same can be said for videos. With apps like Instagram, short reels, and engaging videos to help create a brand identity. There are certain photography and videography tactics that brands can leverage to create high-quality content. Share User-Generated Content on your Pages Millennials are the first generation to be open to engaging and sharing great advertisements. Consider sourcing content from your customers and clients. You must have come across numerous brands that ask to share pictures of your experience or their products on your Instagram page. This is because user-generated content, or real customer photos and videos, adds transparency to your brand and your products. Think Caf? Coffee Day or Coca-Cola; these brands ask their customers to post images that they repost on their platforms to get 2x the conversion. Utilize Instagram Lives and Instagram Stories Instagram lives, and Instagram stories are two powerful features that all you to deepen your connection with your followers. Instagram Posts have evolved into an area for sharing highly stylized and curated photos of perfect moments. The stories and lives sections are where to post raw, authentic content. Use your Instagram lives or stories to give a behind-the-scenes of office culture and brand-sponsored events or share tutorials on your products. Share high-quality, authentic photos and videos on your social platforms and websites, connect with a cause, and celebrate your customers by sharing user-generated content. Instagram offers many features you can use to humanize your brand and extend your brand's essage to a larger audience.

Let Festivities Build Goodwill!

Religious festivals are woven into the culture of India. They are filled with love, celebration, joy, positivity, food, and music. For marketers, festivals are an excellent opportunity to reflect the same energy as their audience and connect with potential customers. Using the spirit of festivals, a brand can promote its products effectively, leading to greater sales and helping them create brand awareness. Think Cadbury's Diwali special packs- the sales of the company increase during the festival of lights. Why? Because of effective festival campaigns and advertisements. Festival ads have a special place in our hearts. From Moti sandal soap's Diwali special advertisements to Cadbury's #ShopsForShopless campaign, these ads give us a sense of nostalgia and feel-good vibes. Here is how effective festival marketing campaigns help brands and why you need to focus on them. One ad that stands out in my memory is Saregama Carvaan's Diwali Ad: #ShorYaSangeet. Aimed at pet owners, specifically dog owners, the short ad shows a dog scared and distressed due to the loud fireworks on Diwali. The owner then shuts all windows and proceeds to play Saregama's music player. And although I was someone who was not particularly aware or interested in the Saregama Carvaan brand, as an animal lover, the ad touched a spot in my heart, leading me to research more about the brand. And the brand achieved a campaign purpose: Brand Awareness. By reaching out to a wide range of audiences through heartfelt advertisements, businesses can establish brand awareness among their audience. Whenever I think of firecrackers and dogs on Diwali, my mind immediately recalls the Saregama Music Player and its ad. Brand awareness may not always lead to potential customers, but it does help in establishing your brand in the minds of people. Another way marketing during festivals can help by creating brand equity or brand recall. This occurs when you create a campaign that speaks to your audience's emotions relating to a certain occasion. Moti Sandal Soap always comes around during the Diwali season. Why? Because on the morning of Diwali, people in Maharashtra take the ritualistic bath- Abhyanga Snan. This is incomplete without the 'Utna"- a mixture of powdered fragrant Ayurvedic herbs. Utna is applied to the body before taking a bath at dawn. Moti used this essence of Utna in their advertising campaign, leading people to believe that this soap was to be used on Diwali. And this was back in the 90s. Since then, most people have used the Moti sandal soap for their traditional baths on Diwali. The brand Moti keeps itself alive on tradition and nostalgia. Using a crucial festival element, a brand can make itself memorable and boost its sales. Creating Brand Recall is achieved by making products more memorable and recognizable concerning a certain event. Kuch Meetha Ho Gaye? Cadbury's Diwali Celebration packs are well known. Cadbury gives its own twist to the practice on the tradition of eating sweets on the morning of festivals. So instead of having traditional desi sweets, now start your day with Cadbury's chocolates. Plus, it makes for a great Diwali gifting option because people of all ages love chocolate. So how do Cadbury's Diwali packs help in its sale? By addressing the pain points of its audience. Cadbury knows that people usually struggle to decide on gifts to give on Diwali. And it takes that aspect in its marketing campaign by giving a gifting option suitable for all ages and genders, helping it Boosting Sales. In a saturated market, brands use the best marketing strategies to stand out from their competitors. As we see in the examples above, creating a unique advertisement that speaks to your customers, addresses their pain points, and creates a sense of nostalgia will help achieve brand awareness, create brand recall and equity, and consquently boost sales. When businesses invest in ads or festival posts, it helps them connect with people on an emotional level and creates relatability with the brand. The first step in brand building is creating brand awareness through relatability; festival campaigns help you achieve that. The Indian community is crazy about festivals and always finds ways to celebrate them harmoniously. Brands should take advantage of this opportunity by presenting their services and products. This way, they can engage and retain their customers while creating brand awareness among potential prospects. If you are unsure what to post during the festival season, feel free to contact us. The Demeaning Entertainer

Ever looked at someone?s social media and thought to yourself, ?Wow. I wish I had that life.?? Well, you are not alone. In this digital era, many people (not just teens and young adults) pass their time scrolling through social media, looking at feeds of their favourite singers, actors and even friends and acquaintances. Social media has changed how we connect with others. We are able to get updates and information much quicker. But like any technology, social media also has its own dark side. While using social media platforms, at some point, we start comparing our lives with the seemingly perfect and ideal lives of other people, resulting in great dissatisfaction. I have been through that: looking at stories of friends or influencers, and a wave of sadness washes over me, feeling that my life lacks that element of ?perfection?. And it is not just the awesome, aesthetic, gram-worthy places and lives people live; social media also makes us compare our bodies with the air-brushed, filtered photos of models and online influencers. Instead of making it easier to connect with others and helping us build better relations, I have found that social media instead makes us more envious of other people, pulling us into the abyss of comparison and destroying our mental health. To limit FOMO and negate sadness, it is important to understand how social media affects us. Firstly, you need to note if you have the symptoms of social media sadness. These include: An overall drop in the mood while using social media. Feeling empty or lost after reading a friend?s happy tweet or looking at their upbeat story/ post. Compelled to scroll through their feed, or as we say it, ?stalk? their account. Feeling a sense of self-loathing and despair after using social media platforms. If you have faced any of the above situations, there is a high chance that you are negatively affected by social media. No need to feel bad about it, though; many of us have been through the same sensations because we humans are inherently competitive beings. We love flaunting. This results in a society where everyone wants to show how perfect their lives are. Unfortunately, many of us tend to forget this fact while scrolling through social media, and this is where problems start. So, what is the solution to this? Well, I found the below tips helpful in combating social media sadness. Remove boastful people from your following Note which profiles are many you feel sad and envious, and unfollow them. Even if they are friends, boastful people will do more harm than good, and you can always keep in touch with friends over messaging apps. Limit your social media time Don?t spend every waking minute of your day on social media. Indulge in other activities that will make you feel good, like playing with your pet, going for a walk, reading a book or watching a movie. Limit your time, and stick to it. Don?t be afraid to share your own good news The point of social media is to connect, so don?t be afraid to share your own life happenings on social media. There is nothing wrong with sharing your achievements and highlights on your profile; just make sure you do it with the right people. Using social media to connect, not compare Lastly, remember that social media is for connecting and having positive interactions, not for comparing your life with people you don?t even know. Keep your focus where it belongs. Take a genuine interest in people?s lives and opinions rather than making everything a competition. You don?t have to quit using your social media platforms completely. They are great tools for staying in touch, connecting with clients and promoting your business. Rather just watch what you follow and consume, look at everything from a balanced perspective and be willing to take a breather when necessary.

But before we get into more details on this new feature, let us first understand what NFTs or digital collectibles are. What are NFTs and why the hype? You must have seen several news headlines about crappy cartoons being sold for millions of dollars and must be confused as to why someone would pay that much for a drawing that looks like it has been done by a toddler. Well, these pieces of digital art, are also called NFTs. If you are aware of NFTs, then you can skip this section. If not, you might want to give it a read first. An NFT or Non-Fungible Token is a one-of-a-kind digital asset that is managed on a blockchain (similar to cryptocurrency). From art to videos to even tweets, an NFT can be anything in a digital format. It can be considered similar to owning an antique piece or an original artwork. Think: Owning the Mona Lisa; although there might be millions of copies of the well-known artwork, the true value is in owning the original artwork. Similarly, when you buy an NFT, you become the owner of it. So, while there might be n number of copies of the digital asset, it does not compare to owning the original work. This is the number one reason for the hype: owning something that cannot be replaced with a similar digital asset. How will NFTs work on Instagram? Now, if you have been closely following the updates of Instagram, you will know that the platform announced this big reveal a few months back. However, it has only been fully rolled out in August. While the social media platform is not the first to support NFTs, we all know how powerful Instagram is, so, bringing the technology to the social media giant can do a lot for digital creators. So far artists have been sharing IG?s NFT features by sharing collectibles they have created or own by linking third-party wallets. In addition to providing a new platform for displaying their work, these new Instagram features will also help the general public learn more about NFTs. Instagram could also become a hub for NFT enthusiasts. Will we see more upcoming artists on the platform? Or will the NFT scene be dominated by already famous creators? Will Instagram create a space to sell and buy NFTs in the future? Whichever direction NFT integration will take Instagram in, it will undoubtedly impact how we view and share digital art.

How NFTs Are Going To Change Marketing in the Future

NFT. It has been a while since the new acronym has taken over the internet. And now, Instagram is bringing it to the platform. So, what is the hype with NFTs? Actually, what are NFTs in the first place? If you don?t know what NFTs are, NFT stands for non-fungible token and is a unique digital term. These are cryptographic assets on a blockchain, i.e., unique identification codes. They are not cryptocurrencies, though, as they cannot be traded or exchanged for equivalency. So, they are essentially digital collectables. While anyone might be able to rip off a GIF to save it, owning an NFT versus ripping a GIF is the equivalent of how anyone can own a picture of the Mona Lisa, but only one person/ entity can own the original painting. NFTs are managed via blockchain technology and are bought and sold (rather auctioned), often using the cryptocurrency Ethereum or ETH for short. In layman's terms, NFTs are receipts or certificates that guarantee the authenticity of any digital elements- be it a photograph, a visual prototype, a collectible, and so on. How Does Social Media Come into NFT Promotion? You probably also think of social media when you think of digital art. Social media has played a big part in NFT marketing. Social media has become a tool for any artist. Artists can easily showcase their works and ideas to a larger audience through social media, resulting in a large following. Social media has become ideal for promoting NFTs under the artist?s brand. But cultivating an NFT following on social media requires practice, online branding, and social media advertising. NFTs in Social Media Marketing in the future For any brand to succeed on social media, you need to have a target audience in mind, engage users and convert followers into paying customers. Different types of content are used in the marketing process, and thus you need a solid social media marketing strategy to improve your chances of success. NFT technology can provide a new user experience and help increase brand awareness and affinity. Brand owners get opportunities in both the digital and physical markets as they are useful not just with digital images but with physical products. With NFT-focused social media, brands can create unique brand experiences, increase brand awareness and encourage interaction while increasing conversion and driving revenue. Through NFT-based social networks, the brands can create engaging digital art assets and give the ownership rights of these collectables while promoting these products. Apart from this, users can verify the ownership of the images and items, reducing the risk of fraud. This will increase brand trust and develop a new journey with clients. This authentication will greatly help your social media marketing strategy by generating value, brand lovers, and personalization of the brand. Taco Bell is well-known for its NFT program. Based on their product, they created a series of NFT artworks that sold in less than 30 minutes. So apart from profit, NFTs can also become a great way to promote your company. Is it worth investing in NFTs? NFTs are going to bring the brands and customers closer, and create identification and a sense of belonging. It also creates a new source of revenue. With the advancement of the metaverse and the coming of Web 3.0, non-fungible tokens will certainly become a way to market in the future. So, while NFTs are still in their embryonic stage, it is essential that brands and their social media marketing agency like, start to study the advance of NFTs in this economy, since regardless of what the market configuration in the future is, it will continue to value what is exclusive and unique. There is no doubt that NFTs will pave the way forward in marketing and generating revenue in the digital environment.

How The New TDS Rule Will Change Influencer Marketing?

Did you ever want to become a social media influencer just because you found the idea of free products and sponsored trips so exciting? If you are a regular user of social media platforms like Facebook or Instagram, you must have come across many accounts of influencers who promote all kinds of products, from sunglasses to night creams. Influencers usually get to keep a lot of the products. Well, it is not the case anymore. Starting July 1, influencers will soon have to pay TDS for the freebies they receive from brands. What is the new TDS rule? The Finance Act 2022 has added a new section 194R in the Income-tax Act from July 1 2022. This new section requires a person providing any benefit or prerequisite to another person for their business to deduct tax at the source of 10% of the aggregate value of the benefit or prerequisite. However, TDS will not be applicable if the aggregate value of the benefit from the brand is less than Rs. 20,000 in a year or if the products are returned to the brand after promotion. Social media influencers used to get benefits as there was no avenue for the government to track the provision of these benefits as it was not reported in the income tax filing. So, to amend this gap, the tax authorities have introduced this new section. Impact of the new TDS rule The new rule will affect many micro-influencers negatively as they mostly only do barter associations: promoting the brand?s products in exchange for the freebies. This is how they build relationships with these brands while creating a base in the field. It will also impact tech influencers as they usually get to keep the gadgets they review. Similarly, travel influencers used to promote in exchange for flight or hotel tickets. Now, both the brands and the influencers will have to track these exchanges in detail. How will this make social media more reliable? Before, influencers were promoting brands left and right. The main aim of many social media influencers was to increase reach and remain relevant. So, whether they performed research on the product before promoting it was not guaranteed. One day they would be advocating for one brand's product, and the next, they were promoting the competitors' products. Hence, no oversight was provided for how they operated- this caused a lack of accountability. In today?s growing social media advertising scenario, people spend hours scrolling and clicking past these promotions. Their buying decisions, therefore, were highly influenced by many of these influencers, a majority of whom are not credible. With this new TDS rule, Indian influencers will now be paying taxes on the freebies they receive, making them think twice about whether they want to provide social media marketing services to a certain business or not. How do you think the TDS rule will change the influencer marketing scenario? Let us know in the comments below.

Instagram Allows Users To Switch To An Ad-Free Feed: Here's How To Do It.

Adam Mosseri, the CEO of Instagram, started the year with a big announcement and shared that they are testing a chronological order of the feed. If you used Instagram before 2016, you would remember when the app decided to change to an engagement-based feed that introduced posts from accounts that users didn't follow- and a lot of people haven't been happy about it. The algorithmic feed forces people to look at posts and stories based on their engagement and how they use Instagram. Although it is good for discovery, it kind of ruins the whole purpose of Instagram, which is keeping up with friends, family, and other accounts you follow. Well, in March, Instagram gave the users the option to switch to a chronological feed, and now for the first time in eight years, you can view your Instagram feed in chronological order (sort of). The social media app introduced two new features that can affect how people can view their Home feeds. The first setting is "Following," which will allow users to view the Home feed in chronological order. You will see posts and stories only by the accounts you follow and, in the order they were posted, just the way when Instagram was first launched. The second setting is called "Favorites." This is even a more concise feed that has posts and stories of accounts that you have chosen as "favorite." You can add up to 50 accounts and view their posts in chronological order. However, you can only favorite accounts which you already follow. There is an annoying catch tho: like Facebook, you can only toggle the chronological feed on and off but cannot set it as your default feed. This means that you will need to manually turn on the chronological option every time you open the app. Here is how you can do so: Step 1 Download the latest versions of Instagram on your phone. Step 2 Open Instagram and tap the Instagram logo in the top-left corner. Step 3 You will see a drop-down menu with two options: Following and Favorites. Click on Following to switch to a chronological feed. The Favorites option will allow you to create a consolidated chronological feed that displays posts from selected accounts. Click on ?Favorites,? and you will be asked to add accounts to your list of favorite accounts. Once you select these, you will have the option to view posts only from these in chronological order when you switch to the Favorites mode. Also, posts from them will appear higher in your regular feed. What does this mean for businesses? Before everyone starts to panic and start reevaluating their Social Media Marketing Strategy, the first question is whether users will actually engage with these new feed options. It is quite possible that users will realize the algorithm provides better content.? ?And even if they do not prefer the algorithmic feed, will their desire to see a chronological feed be strong enough that they will overcome the barrier of manually selecting their preferred feed every time they open the app? Even if we go with 'yes,'- the favorites feed that will have content from up to 50 accounts is unlikely to provide enough content daily to a typical Instagram user who spends more than an hour per day on the platform.? So, we will see most users browsing both kinds of feeds on any given day. The Pros of a Chronological Feed Even if Instagram does revert to a chronological feed- which is highly unlikely as it represents a vast majority of Facebook and Instagram's revenue- it will provide brands with an increased opportunity for real-time, organic marketing. As a renowned Social Media Marketing Specialist in India, we think that a chronological feed can be a great boon for businesses. This is because businesses no longer have to rely on the algorithm about whether followers see their content. In the end, it will all depend on whether our followers are interested in our content or not. When you post and what you post will start to matter again- leading to more opportunities for live coverage of your business' events, experiences, and brand launches. So, if you hire a Social Media Marketing Agency to create great content for you, it could help by building. Strong follower base. Moreover, you can also increase your organic visibility within the favorites or the following feed with exciting and valuable content. Thus, both kinds of feed have a plus point for Social Media Advertising. Conclusion The chronological feed represents a bigger opportunity for business rather than a threat. Keep in mind that social media is an engagement platform, not an advertising platform. The goal of Instagram is not to interrupt people's scrolling and put ads in front of them but to create content that is useful to your audience and start a conversation that builds trust and brand awareness. A good social media marketing strategy will always win in the end, no matter what Instagram does to the algorithm. And for a great strategy, you can approach agencies like Hats-Off that provide Social Media Marketing Services to create content worthy of your followers' attention. So if you want a great social media strategy, talk to one of our Social Media Marketing specialists today.

Instagram Is Testing a New Home Feed Feature: What Does This Mean for Marketers?

Instagram just keeps rolling out new updates almost every week. The latest update by the platform has taken the internet by storm. Although it is still in beta testing mode for some users, the update has drastically changed how we consume content on the app. As a social media marketing agency, we think it is our responsibility to help you stay up-to-date and informed with the latest Instagram updates and adjust your business to them. Staying updated with the latest updates will help you keep your business account trending and relevant. Last week Hats-Off posted a reel on the latest Instagram update that aims to ?bring video more front and center? on the social media platform. Instagram?s CEO, Adam Mosseri, announced that they are testing out a new feature to increase the immersive experience on the main Home feed of the Instagram app. This feature will focus on making videos a more significant part of the feed by taking up bigger space. Both photos and video will take more screen space and have a taller format. Images that are not formatted as per the new 9:16 ratio will have a blurred border in the background. These feed changes aim to learn how people interact on mobile devices and if a 9:16 format is better for a mobile-first experience. It could be coming from the influence of competitors like TikTok, which already has a full-screen by default. Much like the platform, posts on Instagram?s main feed will take up the entire screen, and users will need to swipe up to skip to the next post. During its Q1 2022 earnings call, Meta -parent company to Instagram- announced that Reels now makes up more than 20% of the time that users spend on Instagram. In the test version of the full-screen home feed, you can still use the bottom navigation bar to access reels, the discovery tab, shopping, and your own profile, and stories will remain at the top of your feed like the present version. Like every Instagram feature, this one, too was met with a lot of controversies. The major UI change will affect the way we market on the platform significantly? So how will it affect your social media marketing strategy, and how can you change it to adapt to this new feature? However you see it, this is a major change for anyone who works in social media or is a social media advertising. If this update comes into action, it will allow Instagram users to focus on one content at a time. This will let businesses convey their message without their viewers getting distracted by other posts on the feed. Whether this test feature is here to stay, only time will tell. In the meantime, let us hear your thoughts about the new update in the comment section below.

Social Media Mistakes That Can Ruin Your Marketing Efforts

However, crowded the marketplace becomes, every marketer wants their brand to be seen by as many eyes as possible. Social media marketing is an effective way for brands of all sizes to reach out to prospective clients. In our previous blog, we established how social media carries a great potential for small businesses that wish to boost their reach, leads, and traffic. However, when it is not being used properly, social media can greatly damage the reputation of your brand. When it has so much to offer, it is crucial that you are proficient enough to get the most out of it. Despite being a well-established agency, we have committed a good number of social media mistakes ourselves in our early days. Mistakes that have cost us reach and engagement and maybe even customers. Now that we have learned from those mistakes, in this blog I will share 9 mistakes that can ruin your social media marketing and how you can avoid committing them yourself. Not strategizing first One of the most common mistakes that many businesses commit is working without a proper plan in place. Although creating a social media marketing strategy seems like an obvious thing to do, many companies fail to do so. They simply post things on social media without any real plan in place. Any marketing should be done with a direction and objective in mind. Creating a plan is the first step in your social media marketing. Come up with a list of specific and detailed objectives that you want to achieve, then create a budget for it along with a plan of action. The plan should clearly outline what you wish to achieve, how you intend to measure the results, and what resources you might need for your plan to follow through. Not defining your target audience Defining your target audience will help you in focusing your efforts on people who are genuinely interested in your product. All hard work is nil if you do not know your audience well. Marketing on social media while targeting the wrong audience means wastage of time and resources. Your strategy will vary when you are in the B2B space as opposed to in the B2C space. You have to know your target market and the social media the audience is engaged in. For example, in a B2B setting, you would link your LinkedIn share buttons on your content, while in a B2C you would give preference to the Facebook and Twitter share buttons. Ignoring SEO The best SEO practices are vital to a social media marketing campaign. Many brands make the mistake of not paying attention to SEO practices while executing their social media plan and the result is a failed marketing strategy. You should pay attention to the best SEO practices while posting on social media. This will help your profile in ranking higher in search engine results, drive more organic traffic to your profile and help increase your followers as well. Using irrelevant hashtags Another common mistake is using too many or irrelevant hashtags. If the content you post has no relation to the hashtag, then simply don?t add the hashtag. Hashtags are a way to label your content and associate the post with a certain topic. When users search for a particular hashtag, they will find your content on the topic. Thus, it is a good way of letting your target audience find you. Look up other sites that post similar content to yours and try to use those hashtags in your posts (if they make sense). No Human Touch Social media is all about connecting with other people, namely other brands, potential, and current customers. Thus it can be a mistake if you rely too much on automation. Automation can be a lifesaver but if you become too dependent on it, you might lose the human touch around with any brand?s persona thrives. Therefore, you must not fail to participate in the conversation in the comment section of your posts. It will improve your social media presence while helping you build valuable relationships with your audience. Posting too much Blasting content on your social media channels one after the other is a horrible idea. Not only the quality of your content will decline, but people are more likely to unfollow you or simply scroll past your posts. Limiting your posts to just one per day will ensure that you only share the best content. Maintain a content calendar, keep testing the post timings, and be sure to have some content variety (text post, image post, or video post). No updating regularly Many brands make the mistake of thinking that a good cover photo, killer image, proper details in the About Us section is all they need to keep things going. If you are guilty of doing this, then you need to change your habits ASAP. Not updating your socials regularly is a missed opportunity to scale your results. Tweak a few things in your profile once in a while and keep thinking and analyzing new ways to attract audiences. Excessive promotional content People use social media to connect and communicate, share opinions, and get updated on current events. If you only promote your brand and backlinks to your website, it will bore your audience. Instead of increasing your following, you will dwindle it. Post content that excites your audience?s interest and is conversation triggering. Promoting your brand is important, but be subtle about it. No Call-To-Action Your social media posts, while providing valuable information about your niche and brand to your audience must also have CTAs to tell your audience what to do next. Only then will your content hold any meaning. It will also be a motivation to your audience to become your customers and is also an invitation to visit your website. By avoiding the above common social media mistakes, you can expect much improvement for your brand?s social media. Consider writing down the goals, plans, and target audience for your social media marketing campaign. If you are unsure how to go about this, then it is time to hire a social media marketing agency to guide you. Brand awareness not just influences the buying patterns and behaviors of the customers but also increases brand loyalty.
